Hello Readers,
99:9 here with another newsletter. Here’s the new content I uploaded this week:
The Wisdom of Solomon is part of the Apocrypha. This interesting Apocryphal book of the Old Testament is almost theologically ‘in-between’ Judaism and Christianity. Wisdom had an influence on New Testament writers. In the latest review for The Christian Book Corner, I look at the Cambridge Library Collection version of The Wisdom of Solomon, with extensive commentary by J.A.F. Gregg.
Victory in Virtue Part 10: Chastity
Many non-Christians believe that Christianity is an anti-sex religion, or the Bible is an anti-sex book. Not so! But the Bible does teach us to contain sex within the context of a monogamous, heterosexual marriage. God created sex, so it’s a good thing that we should enjoy with gratitude. But the devil tries to pervert everything God creates. Check out the latest Victory in Virtue post to learn more.
Do Not Fear the End Times Part 53: Our Own Sins Damn Us, not our Neighbor's
Once again, we go into the Book of Ezekiel. In this case, Ezekiel chapter 18. In the previous post I wrote about how we have a duty to warn people of Christ’s coming, but it’s on them to heed the message. In the same way, we have the duty to fight our own sins and see to the health of our own souls. This is because, as we learn from Ezekiel 18, God will not hold us responsible for any sins but our own. If we disobey God, lose our salvation, and suffer eternal damnation, it will be because of our own sins and no one else’s. Read Part 53 to learn more.
Well that’s all for the week. I hope this gives you something good to read on your Sunday. Enjoy the week. I’ll be back next week with the next newsletter!
